Carol Schwartzott has been creating artists' books for over twenty-five years. Her work appears in many museums, libraries, and private collections including the Smithsonian, the National Gallery of Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Carol created this evocative book to celebrate nature and the seasons, and the creatures that inhabit the worlds that they create. An excerpt from the text: "A narrow path appeared. It led into deep green...worn true as creatures travelled in time and nature preparing for seasonal change." Passage is a letterpress printed book with an accordion fold structure. There are fourteen intricate, hand-cut illustrations are featured on the right-hand pages of each two-fold spread cut on beautiful textured white paper. The cover is made of brown Fabriano Roma paper folded over boards with a letterpress title and cut away designs. The text is set in ITC Vintage/P22 Da Vinci typefaces, and the book is housed in a red hand-dyed Thai paper slipcase. A beautiful production in fine condition. Measures 6.5 x 7 x 1 inches.
