Fine early wax relief of Mozart in profile. Signed on the lower portion with the initials "F D." France, ca. 1800

By [MOZART, Wolfgang Amadeus 1756-1791]
The composer faces left and is dressed in typical jacket, ruffled shirt, and cravat, his hair gathered with a ribbon at his collar.

Cream patina. 2-5/8 x 1-3/8 inches (68 x 34 mm); frame 7-7/8 x 6-5/8 inches (201 x 170 mm). Laid down to a black velvet backing and framed. In very good condition. A finely-executed likeness, possibly influenced by the Leonhard Posch wax profile of 1788 and the subsequent engravings based on that work.
