Ex-library, with three property stamps. $150. * A biographical tribute to Sir George Rose (1782-1873) who was a barrister and law reporter who had a long career in the English legal system serving as a judge in the Court of Review, a Master in the High Court of Chancery, and was a respected member of the Inner Temple. He was the first chairman of the Law Fire Insurance Society and a fellow of the Royal Society and attended Westminster School, Trinity College, Oxford, and Trinity College, Cambridge. Known for his wit and sense of humor this memorial is an important source for biographical information on Sir George Rose and is cited in historical references, such as the Dictionary of National Biography. The portrait is photographed from a picture in the possesion of the Directors of the Law Fire Insurance Society, Chancery Lane, London.
