Bound in full midnight blue calf; five raised bands, leather title labels, and gilt decoration to spines; top edges gilt; marbled endpapers. Light wear to extremities; a trifle heavier at spine ends. Bindings sound. Toning and occasional smudging; a few volumes with later gift inscriptions; interiors else unmarked; a handsome, Very Good set.

The Riverside Edition of Emerson's works was compiled by his literary executor in the years after his death and include "Conduct of Life," "Society and Solitude as well as numerous essays, poems, lectures, and miscellanies. Full sets hard to find in such condition.
