By Woods, William
Philadelphia/New York/London: J.B. Lippincott Company (A Story Press Book). Very Good in Poor dj. (c.1942). 3rd impression. Hardcover. (in a Grosset & Dunlap movie tie-in dust jacket) [good sound copy, light soiling to covers, some fading to spine cloth where pieces of jacket are absent, a lot of pencil scribbling (song lyrics?) on both sides of rear endpaper; the jacket is a mess, very worn, missing about two inches from base of spine, with various other tears and chips, yet more pencil scribbling on rear panel]. A weirdly scarce novel about Norwegian resistance fighters trying to free their country from the tyranny of the occupying forces of Nazi Germany. Basis for the 1943 Warner Bros. movie of the same name, this copy bearing a photographic Grosset & Dunlap jacket depicting the film's stars, Ann Sheridan and Errol Flynn, being threatened by a Nazi soldier -- a threat about which they appear utterly nonchalant, because it's a really crudely-composited photo. .
