New York: James Rivington, 1774. Hawkesworth's Edition. Leather Bound. Good. Volume 1 only. 260pp. Duodecimo [19 cm] Full brown leather with a red leather title label on the spine. Extremities rubbed. With only a small portion of the folding map present. No frontispiece. There are 3/4" to 2" long tears in the margins of the pages, mostly thin and mostly near the gutters, which occasionally obscure a little bit of the text. The tears to several of the pages are longer. Pp. 119/120 and 159/160 have losses from the fore-edges, obscuring some text. P. 230 is misnumbered as p. 229 (in other words, two pages are numbered 229). Pagination then picks up with p. 230. As is. Beddie 656. The first American edition of Cook's first voyage.
