London: Calder and Boyars, 1967. First edition. Fine/Near Fine. One of a hundred numbered copies (printed "A") and signed by the author, issued hors commerce "in advance of the first edition." Finely bound in full cream calf with the publisher's iridescent slipcase. All edges gilt. A Fine, unblemished copy in a Near Fine slipcase (with minor dustsoiling to edges and small dampstain to back panel). A hundred copies in quarter calf over buckram (the B series) were also produced. Note that the copyright page describes the A copies as bound in "quarter calf over buckram" and the B copies as "full buckram," but the A copies were actually bound in full calf (shown here) and the B copies in quarter calf over buckram.
The publisher's preface explains that "This volume contains all Samuel Beckett's miscellaneous texts, the entirety of his short prose that he is willing to have published at the present," from the 1945 story "L'Expulse" (here published in English as "The Expelled") to his 1966 piece "Enough." The other pieces collected here are "The Calmative," "The End," the ten-thirteen part "Texts for Nothing," "From an Abandoned Work," and a few short "residua." Two of these residua, "Imagination Dead Imagine" and "Ping," appear here for the first time in English. Fine in Near Fine dust jacket.
