This work was first published in 1698 and reissued in 1700 with a title beginning Modus Transferendi Status per Recorda. Brown produced it as a companion to his Compendious and Accurate Treatise of Recoveries upon Writs of Entry in the Post, And Fines Upon Writs of Covenant, a well-regarded early text on real estate law first published in 1678. Thoroughly revised, the second edition was designated Volume II and sold alongside the final two editions of the Compendious and Accurate Treatise (the fifth and sixth, 1718, 1725).
