Twelve original early 19th century head-and-shoulder and bust-length portraits of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and one of his father, Leopold Mozart
- SIGNED
Carefully executed in pencil, pen and ink, wash, and watercolor.
By various artists; one drawing signed "G.N.," another signed "Cornet." Early to mid-19th century, possibly earlier, most likely French, with contemporary identification ("Mozart") to either recto or verso. Sizes range from ca. 65 x 50 mm to 155 x 130 mm. Laid down to heavy gilt-edged mounting paper, sheet size ca. 387 x 314 mm. 5ff. in total.
Provenance
According to typed notes accompanying the drawings, these single leaves are from a large scrapbook compiled by an early 19th century Mozart enthusiast that originally included an autograph manuscript of Wolfgang and autograph letters of both Wolfgang and Leopold Mozart.
With small circular collection handstamp, mostly indecipherable ("Denkmal ...) to verso of each leaf. An intriguing collection of Mozart iconography.
