First Edition, first issue with "doctors." for "doctors," on p. 186, "conversation" for "conversion" on p. 196, and "explaininn" for "explaining" on p. 202. In married Third Printing dust jacket, with $2.50 price intact on flap and "3rd Large Printing" on spine. Boards in decorative tan cloth with red buckram spine and black lettering. Blue topstain. Jacket shows a few chips and tears along edges, with toning and dulling down spine and folds, a few stray waterspots and smudges to surface, and cloth tape repair on verso to a rear panel tear. Boards lightly shelfworn with some darkening along top edge; crack to rear hinge. Spine slightly cocked and a bit soiled, with nudging at head and tail. Prior owner's name in pencil on front free endpaper and scattered foxing to preliminaries. Opens easily between a few gatherings, but binding is sound.
