- New York, New York: Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, 1934
New York, New York: Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, 1934. Very good. Minor toning, dust soiling.. An illustrated 1930s guide for homemakers offering nutritional and labor-saving advice for family meal times. Offers: a basic overview of why healthful eating is important for the human body, which foods are recommended and why (such as pasteurized milk), and how to spend wisely when it comes to food budgeting. Note how much less removed consumers were from farmers and whole foods at this time. A good example of the kinds of pamphlets the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company published as a part of its marketing initiative in the early part of the 20th century to improve public health.
