Fine 8vo Valentine with Gilded Lace Paper, Silk Flowers, Embossed Victorian Scrap

London, 1850. Very good. Light dust soiling, toning, a couple spots.. A finely produced 8vo valentine made from a gilded lace paper bifolium, silk flowers, and embossed Victorian scrap depicting a young boy surrounded by flowers and another depicting a flag. The lace paper also features at the very top a small but detailed image of a young woman in classical dress holding a basket of flowers on her shoulder. What makes the valentine special, however, is its use of folded paper tabs in each corner beneath the upper lace paper, resulting in a 3D effect/depth to the valentine. There is also a folded tab beneath the central scrap, so it pops up as well. Bifolium (7" by 4.5"). Blank inside.
