The first issue of a new series published in 1921 to highlight the importance of child welfare, and to report on the activities of Alabama's state child welfare agency. Formed in 1919, the Child Welfare Department of Alabama aimed to improve the lives of the state's children by battling poverty and child labor. This issue includes reports on work by the department in its first years, demographics and statistics (including some divided into "White" and "Colored" categories), and plans to improve healthcare for families and children. Also includes a chart showing the department's division, functions, and related agencies. Provides important insight into child welfare in Alabama in the 1920s. Single vol.
