Octavo; contemporary parchment, red gilt spine title, marbled endpapers, all edges stained red; xix,[1],202pp. (collated complete); engraved portrait frontispiece by Giuseppe Antonio Landi. Boards quite bowed and rather dust-soiled, spine label chipped with loss of text, slightly later (1810) ownership inscription to front flyleaf, else Very Good and sound.

Collected works of the Italian satirist Francesco Berni (ca. 1497-1535) adorned with a smiling and quite youthful portrait frontispiece by the Italian neoclassical artist and architect Giuseppe Antonio Landi (1713-1791).

Provenance: Contemporary armorial ex libris of Scottish lawyer and politician William Mure, a.k.a. Mure of Caldwell (1718-1776).
