Merrimack County, New Hampshire, 1848. Fair. Splint vertically along letter fold. Toned with some stains, dust soiling, nicks.. An inventory list of sales made from the estate of Thomas Miles Wadleigh (1774-1848), nephew of Revolutionary War veteran Thomas Wadleigh (1755-1827). The Wadleigh family were based in Merrimack County, New Hampshire during this period. This account appears to be a draft or fair copy, and lists all of the deceased's assets as of his death in 1848. It is divided into three columns: "Articles Inventoried", appraised value, and realized value. It is fascinating to see the man's worldly possessions inventoried so thoroughly, and it paints an evocative picture of his net worth and daily life. From the list of items we can glean that he was a farmer (Planes, Hand saw, Cow Hide, Sheep, Scythes, Pitchforks, etc.), and he collected maple syrup ("45 sap buckets"). Lists personal items ranging from bedding and quilts to food and "8 1/2 barrels of cider" and stores of meat, cheese, and onions for the winter. Manuscript ink on lined paper measuring approx. 13.25" by 8.5
