- New York, New York , 1979
New York, New York, 1979. Very good. Light toning. A little damage to envelope.. Four (4) bright and colorful Bernard Childs prints, each signed and dated in pencil at the foot with the message "Noël". They each were used as Christmas greetings for the years 1976-1979, and show Childs' distinctive abstract style. All four measure approx. 5.25" by 5", and they are housed in a hand-addressed envelope postmarked and stamped December, 1978. Addressed to "Mr. & Mrs. Gilbert Jonas" of New York's Upper East Side. Includes printed return address label of Childs to lip of envelope. Bernard Childs (1910-1985) was a New York painter and printmaker known for engraving metal printmaking plates with power tools. His use of color, line, and space led to a distinctly sensual point of view. He traveled widely, and has been the subject of dozens of solo and group exhibitions over the years.
