By Blum, Daniel
New York: Greenberg: Publisher. Fair. (c.1951). (Volume 4) First Printing. Hardcover. (no dust jacket) [considerable wear to edges and extremities, light soiling and a vertical scrape on the front cover, binding a little loosey-goosey but all pages still attached; a good reference copy, but no more]. (B&W photographs) Provides cast/production credits for all films released in the U.S. during 1950. The "Promising Personalities" of the year were about evenly split between those who went on to really become something, and those who never quite did, with full-page photos of: Charlton Heston, Mala Powers, Marlon Brando, Gene Nelson, Faith Domergue, Rock Hudson, Debra Paget, Anthony (Tony) Curtis, Patrice Wymore, Nancy Olson, John Barrymore Jr. (very deliberately posed to evoke his famous father's profile), Jean Hagen, and Howard Keel. The second installment of the hideous "Portrait Dolls of Famous Film Folk" feature presents a group photo of doll versions of Fred Astaire, Joan Crawford, Rudolph Valentino, Carmen Miranda, and Harold Lloyd. The volume is dedicated to "Silent Screen Star and A Good Friend," Eugene O'Brien. (Oh, come on -- you remember Eugene, right? Hm?) .
