New York: Appleton-Century. Near Fine in Very Good+ dj. (c.1964). First Edition. Hardcover. [nice clean copy, minor wear to spine ends; the jacket shows a bit of wear along the top edge, a couple of nicks and some very minor creasing at the top of the spine]. (B&W photographs) INSCRIBED and SIGNED by the author in red ink on the front endpaper: "Even better than being / inside Elizabeth Taylor / is being inside Walter, Mickey / & Michael Seltzer -- especially / in Paris! / Love, admiration & / gratitude from a / devoted scrivener / Ruth / June, 1964." One of the first reasonably serious biographies of La Liz, by a well-connected Hollywood journalist -- a one-time editor of Photoplay Magazine, who wound up on the staff of the famous (and dreaded) columnist Louella Parsons. This book (it sez here) was "based on [her] long acquaintance with the star, dating back to her film debut -- at the age of ten -- in LASSIE COME HOME. The result is an intimate, informed, yet always objective and fair portrait of a rare human being, revealing the basic underlying patterns of her controversial and unconventional life." The inscribees were producer Walter Seltzer and his family members. Signed by Author .
