His life gets complicated as he goes out into the world, however: at music school he meets a Bad Girl ("the lovely Shera Thorwald, whose religion was a worship of the beautiful") and then he meets a Good Girl ("LeVera Webber, daughter of the pastor at whose church Rodney got his first job"). .
