A book about animals by a man who spent much of his career filming them, "the director and cameraman for the brilliant Walt Disney wildlife productions," in which capacity he was largely responsible for such films as NIKKI, WILD DOG OF THE NORTH and THE LEGEND OF LOBO. He also was one of the cinematographers for Joseph Strick's experimental documentary THE SAVAGE EYE (1959), directed and wrote a couple of feature films, RING OF BRIGHT WATER (1969) and THE DARWIN ADVENTURE (1972), and earned an Academy Award nomination for his cinematography on JONATHAN LIVINGSTON SEAGULL (1973). The inscribee was a film historian and filmmaker whose 1965 short documentary FELICIA was selected for the National Film Registry in 2014. Signed by Author .
