All edges gilt. Gilt turn-ins. Marbled endpapers. The spine is sunned and has a handful of dark stains, and the spine ends are lightly rubbed. There is a Daniel Reardon Prize bookplate on the front pastedown. The sequel to the author's book "Ancient Law." Sir Henry Sumner Maine (1822-1888) was an English comparative jurist and historian. He is viewed as one of the forefathers of modern sociology of law.
