First published in 1660, this title outlines the various duties of a constable under English law. It was a durable work that went through six editions, the last in 1682. Also a notable mathematician, Wingate wrote several important legal books, including Maximes of Reason (1658) and An Exact Abridgment of the Statues in Force (1642).
