Contemporary sheep, rebacked retaining existing spine, blind rules to boards, blind fillets to spine, corners mended. Light rubbing to boards, which are slightly bowed, moderate rubbing to board edges, light rubbing and two small nicks to spine, pastedowns loose and moderately edgeworn, lower inside corner lacking from front pastedown. Moderate toning to interior, light soiling and a faint stain to title page, contemporary manuscript notes to rear pastedown. $1,500. * Sixth and final edition. First published in 1660, this title outlines the various duties of a constable under English law. It was a durable work that went through six editions, the last in 1682. Also a notable mathematician, Wingate wrote several important legal books, including Maximes of Reason (1658) and An Exact Abridgment of the Statues in Force (1642).
