Button.~~The Nevins bibliography tells us that this is “[t]he first memoir by a caustic Confederate general” [and that] this work was incorporated later -- with marked revisions -- in Early’s Autobiographical Sketch”.~~This memoir is uncommon in the early printing from 1866, and even in this 1996 facsimile reprint.~~This copy is from the personal library of Civil War historian Gary W. Gallagher; Dr. Gallagher has penned a note attesting to this which is laid into the book. (Howes E-14; Nevins I, 84; Dornbusch III, 1709). Fine binding.
