W. Button.~~The Nevins bibliography tells us that this is “[t]he first memoir by a caustic Confederate general” [and that] this work was incorporated later -- with marked revisions -- in Early’s Autobiographical Sketch”.~~This memoir is uncommon in the early printing from 1866, and even in this 1996 facsimile reprint.~~This copy is from the personal library of Civil War historian Gary W.
