The program prints the entire order of service, beginning with an organ prelude and processional hymn, a call to worship, invocation and the Lord's Prayer, the litany of confession, and scripture readings. Congregants would go on to sing "Battle Hymn of the Republic," and the memorial sermon was delivered by Professor Robert McAfee Brown (1920-2001), a Presbyterian theologian and activist who taught at Stanford between 1962-1975. Additional words were delivered by Rev. Carl Smith, Director of Mid-Peninsula Christian Ministry. The concluding hymn prior to the benediction was "Once to Every Man and Nation." An early program from one of the hundreds of memorial services held for King by a nation in mourning. Not separately listed in OCLC. 84023.
