[Broadside] Italiani!

  • Boston: Il Circolo Giordano Bruno, 1893
By [Italian-Americana] [Anticlericalism]
Boston: Il Circolo Giordano Bruno, 1893. Very Good. Boston: Il Circolo Giordano Bruno, 1893. First Edition. Hand flyer (25.5x20.5cm.) printed within black border. Previously folded, moderate wear, tears, and toning to margins with staining to right side and at middle crease, else a Very Good example overall.

Flyer disseminated the 14th of February, 1893, to the Boston-area radical Italian-American community to mark the anniversary of the death of the martyr to science Giordano Bruno, who was burned at the stake for heresy on February 17th, 1600. This anticlerical flyer warns that the Church is as powerful as ever and concludes with the mantra that freedom begins without throne or alter. "Non sia scampi all'odiato borghese" (Let there be no escape for the hated Bourgeoisie).

Not separately catalogued in OCLC as of October, 2024.
