Gill’s edition may have preceded Osgood’s authorized edition, published with the title Dr. Ox's Experiment and Other Stories, with translatons by George M. Towle. Both American editions (appearing in July 1874)preceded the British edition (November 1874). Alger’s titles vary slightly from Towle’s versions. Collects “A Drama in Mid-Air“, “Dr. Ox's Hobby”, “Master Zachary”, and “A Winter Among the Ice-Fields” by Verne, and “Fortieth French Ascent of Mont Blanc” by Paul Verne.
