[no significant wear to book, attractive generic vintage bookplate on front pastedown; the jacket has several small tears and nicks along the top and bottom edges, old bookstore label at top of front flap (The Book Stall, Midland, Texas)]. The first of the popular composer's several memoirs, this one with a great deal about his childhood in Mason City, Iowa -- which of course served as the primary model for "River City" in "The Music Man." The front cover of the book itself bears a small caricature of the author, by Disney artist T. Hee, embossed in silver (identical to the lower illustration on the dust jacket). .
