Queen Zixi of Ix, or, The Story of the Magic Cloak

  • New York: The Century Co, 1905
By L. Frank Baum; Frederick Richardson
New York: The Century Co, 1905. Very Good -. New York: The Century Co., 1905. First Edition, First State with terra-cotta illustrations on pages 169-236. Small quarto. 303 pages. Color illustrations by Richardson throughout. Green pictorial cloth stamped in red and black. Boards are worn at extremities with exposure, soiled overall with minor damp staining to both covers, and spine a bit faded. Binding gives a little with starting at both endsheets but firm and sound. Some smudging to prelims, but interior pages mostly and unmarked.

The events of Queen Zixi take place in two regions that border Oz, and the story was reportedly Baum's favorite and "nearer to the "old-fashioned" fairy tale than anything I have yet accomplished."
