Great copy of this uncommon piece of Custeriana, with 7th Cavalry provenance. The identity of the writer of the inscription is uncertain, but despite similarities in the autograph style, we do not believe it to be "Bronco Charlie" Miller of Pony Express fame. Col. William W. West (1881-1953) was Commanding Officer of the U.S. 7th Cavalry at Ft. Bliss, Texas and also a competitive polo player; he was a member of the U.S. Polo Team at the 1920 Olympics.
