Jacket shows a couple shallow chips at head of spine and a small tear with adjacent creasing at bottom front, with a bit of dust soiling to surface. Boards are square with light bumps to bottom corners and nudging at spine ends. Endpapers and pages a bit toned. A few ghosts of pencil marks on front endpapers, else interior unmarked. Opens easily between gatherings, but binding is sound.

Du Maurier's biography was the first to be written of the Brontes' only brother, who shared his sisters' literary and artistic promise but struggled with alcohol and laudanum addiction and died at the early age of 31.
