New York: G.P. Putnam's & Sons, 1949. First edition and first printing. Hardcover. 387 pages. A biography of one important and controversial labor figure by another controversial and important activist. Includes some black and white images. Lewis helped found the Congress of Industrial Organizations. A very good copy in cloth boards with a faint moisture stain to the bottom rear corner but with no real impact to the pages and in a good only dust jacket with some edge chips, tears and wear and a moisture stain to the bottom rear corner. Signed and inscribed on the front free endpaper: "To Gert warmest regards Saul Alinsky." A nice copy as the recipient was the wife of Meyer Kestnbaum who was the president of Hart, Schaffner & Marx, a major apparel maker in Chicago. Uncommon signed.
