Various: Various, 1945-1968. 142 letters on mainly 8.5 x 11 paper to and from famed magician and magic publisher J(ames). G. Thompson from 1945 to 1968. The correspondence covers various topics such as publishing/writing magic books and articles, attending/organizing conferences, discussing magic tricks, personal correspondence and other assorted topics.
There are a number of interesting letterheads from magicians, publishers, magic suppliers and magician organizations, along with letterheads from amateur magician workplaces, such as banks, brake manufacturers, and a police department, among others.
Included is a personal note on stationery from famed magician Harry Blackstone, along with a self-drawn portrait.
James G. Thompson (1910-1975) was the author of a number of books on magic, as well as many articles for such well-known magician publications as The Sphinx, The Phoenix and The Linking Ring, for which he was the Associate Editor. A banker by trade, he started exhibiting his magic skills by his mid-twenties and was well known for his abilities in card magic, mentalism and close-up magic.
