Very Good binding. 8vo; in publisher’s burgundy cloth binding; tilted in red with a background in gilt; with decorations and three boarders stamped in black; tilting vertically stamped in blind on the spine; 195 pages with 16 pages of advertisements in the rear; there is a small tear at the front hinge but the text block is sound.~~An undated American edition of this novel by Baroness von Tautphoeus, first published in 1853. Based on “the criminal trial of Assessor Zahn” it is “entirely true to life” [DNB, XIX, p. 392]. This copy inscribed by Archer Anderson “For my dear Kathleen” and dated April 14, 1893. The inscription is like to his daughter, Kathleen Graham Anderson. Anderson served valiantly in the Confederate Army, and after the war rejoined his father, Joseph Reid Anderson, at the Trededgar Company. (DNB, XIX, p. 392). Very Good binding.
