Small 8vo; in publisher’s green cloth binding; with titling on the upper board in gilt and decorations stamped in blind on the boards; x, 1-72 pages; the boards have heavy silverfishing, however the binding is sound; there is residue on the front paste down from a removed book plate; the front end paper has a one inch hole to the center; there is minor offsetting on the pages surrounding the frontispiece but the tissue guard is present.~~Nevins says “Amid eulogies and sermons are many revealing letters of a young confederate gunner who died at Fredericksburg.”~~ (Howes S 549, Nevins I p 158, Dornbusche II 1173). Good binding.
