Two volume set; in half-calf over marbled boards, the marbled boards are rubbed; the calf appears to be new, with old morocco labels, one of which is chipped; new endpapers; each volume with a frontispiece portrait, Volume I still protected with a tissue guard; each volume with maps and illustrations throughout.~~Kane’s expedition was his second attempt to explore the Arctic and search for Sir John Franklin was unsuccessful in that he failed to find Sir John Franklin; however he charted coasts, and penetrated farther north than any other explorer up to that time. This set was published the year following Kane’s return to New York.~. Very Good binding.
