Very Good binding. 8vo; three-quarter calf over marbled boards; with burgundy and black morroco labels with tilting in gilt on the spine; Vol I (xviii), 1-352 pages; Vol II (xvi) 1-434 pages with 2 pages of ads in the rear; Vol I some trivial wear to the boards; a couple of chips to the last few pages that do not effect the text; Vol II minor wear to the boards; the lower board is a bit faded; there is a previous owner’s signiture on both volumes.~~A pupil of Samuel Johnson David Garrick was influential in the theatre movement of the 18th century. He was a proponent of realistic acting a departure from the overly theatrical style of the time. This quest for realism is something actors of today still strive for.~. Very Good binding.
