Very good. 5 vols. 8vo. Tayyâr-zâde Ahmed Atâ (1810–1882), an Ottoman historian and bureaucrat, was the son of Tayyâr-zâde Mehmed Tayyâr Efendi. He served in various administrative roles and is best remembered for his scholarly integrity and his monumental work Târîh-i Atâ. This five-volume history of the Ottoman administrative system, is one of the most comprehensive and reliable sources on the Ottoman bureaucracy.

The Tarih-i Ata covers the entire span of Ottoman history from Osman Gazi to Sultan Abdülaziz, including descriptions of key buildings, biographies of grand viziers, sheikh-ul-Islams, scholars, scribes, financial officers, and other high-ranking officials trained in the Enderûn, the elite education system. Volume four includes biographies of Ottoman sultans, princes, and poets, with examples of their poetry.
