London: Printed by J. Dixwell, for the Author, 1768. 1/4 calf. Very Good +. The 1768 1st edition of this imposing folio, elegantly bound in a 20th century 1/4 calf over marbled boards by Starr Bookworks of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Decorative blindstamped compartments, 6 raised bands, leather title and author labels along the spine. Tight, handsome and solidly VG+, with a touch of very light staining (the size of a pea) at the preliminaries. Otherwise very clean, especially the 28 engraved plates (as called for --8 of them large fold-outs), which are crisp and bright and present very well. (Continuing from the title page: "Also, the Parallels of the Orders of Palladio, Scamozzi and Vignola, to Which Are Added Remarks Concerning Publick and Private Edifices with Designs").
