A hand-colored lithographed envelope advertising a patriotic packet of stationery for sale containing note paper, envelopes, portraits of American generals, note paper memoranda, and a pen, pencil, and holder. Charles Magnus (1826-1900) was a prominent American publisher known for his Civil War-era patriotic song sheets, maps, covers, and lithographic illustrations. The front of the envelope gives the viewer a preview of the kind of imagery they can expect, and features a different allegorical seal or illustration for each of the original 13 states. On the lip of the envelope on the back is further advertising info for the publisher. Lithographed envelope, hand colored, measuring approx. 5.25" by 8.5
