Montreal, Canada, 1929. Very good. Light toning, a couple small stains.. A promotional booklet for a tourist destination in Montreal called "The New Famous Midgets Palace", which served as a living museum to display to the public the Count and Countess Philippe Nicol. Philippe Nicol (1881-1940) made his name and fortune as a circus performer, and was known together with his wife Rose (b.1887) as "The King and Queen of all Midgets". This booklet was published after the birth of their son, Philippe Jr. (b.1926) and showcased the life of luxury the little boy was born into as a result of his parents' hard work and savvy marketing skills. Philippe Jr. attempted a career in wrestling, but appears to have committed at least two robberies in his youth and died in poverty. It is unclear how much of the biographical information in this booklet is true, and how much has been manufactured for the tourist trade. It is inverted/in a dual edition form, with an English version printed one way, and French the other. Single vol. (6.5" by 4.5"), pp. 16, 16, in original illus. wrps (inverted, with one side in French and one side in English). N.B. The term "midget" was widely used at the time this booklet was published, but is now considered a pejorative term.
