Bound in full contemporary tree calf, with gilt lettered black leather labels to spine. Boards show moderate plus wear to edges, and moderate to significant wear and bumping to corners, with significant cracking to leather along joints. Multiple books have loose or detached boards (but all boards present). Several volumes lack, or feature severely chipped, spine labels. Text blocks show moderate age toning to edges, some light shelf wear to bottom edges to several volumes, light foxing and age toning to pages, and the ex libris of a former owner on the front paste down of each volume. All eighteen volumes of the third edition (in 36 books), as published in 1797, with 539 of the 542 engraved plates (lacking three). Also includes the two supplementary volumes of (in four books), as published in 1803 (with all 50 engraved plates present). Marbled end papers.
