One of the best books from Adams and one of the seminal books in the New Topographics school of photography. Features a foreword by curator, scholar and photographer John Szarkowski. A collection of black and white images divided into several sections: Prairie, Tracts and Mobile Homes, The City, Foothills, and The Mountains. Photographer and publisher Ralph Gibson's copy with his rubberstamp to the front pastedown. A near fine copy in cloth boards with some slight tapping to the bottom right corners, and some soft creasing to the rear free endpaper and in a near fine dust jacket with some light wear.
