THINNER
- New York: New American Library, 1984
New York: New American Library, 1984. First edition. Fine in a fine jacket.. Beautiful first printing of this Stephen King novel written under pseudonym, a tale of unyielding retribution visited upon those who mostly deserve it. THINNER was the fifth book published by Stephen King under the name Richard Bachman, and the final one to appear before his alternate identity became widely known. In spite of his dedication to maintaining the persona, "It was the beginning of the end of Richard Bachman's career. 'Thinner' was too obviously a Stephen King novel." Or, as King recalled, "The Literary Guild took 'Thinner' and I heard a comment from one of their readers that: 'This is what Stephen King would write like if Stephen King could really write'" (Brown). 8.5'' x 5.5''. Original quarter black cloth with red boards, with metallic red spine lettering. In original unclipped ($12.95) dust jacket. 309, [1] pages. Bright, clean, and sharp overall.
