De Anima Brutorum (The Amsterdam Printing)

  • Full vellum
  • Amsterdam , 1672
By Thomas Willis
Amsterdam, 1672. Full vellum. Very Good. The 1672 Amsterdam printing of De Anima Brutorum. Likely the first reprint of Thomas Willis' foundational 1672 study (originally published in London) of neuroanatomy and the understanding of animal behavior. Very tight and sharp in its smooth, contemporary vellum, with 5 fold-out engraved plates, as called for. Light, forgiveable spotting at the vellum, pages clean and bright. A sound, solidly VG copy. Thick 16mo, extensive printed marginalia throughout. 400 pgs. plus "Index Alphabeticus -- Rerum and Verborum". As per the custom of the day, text exclusively in Latin.
