Cecilia LA: Hebert Publications. Near Fine. 1980. Third Edition. Softcover. [nice tight copy, minimal handling wear, light soiling to top edge, some very minor foxing to the fore-edge]. Trade PB (B&W photographs) A history and portrait of the Acadian people of Louisiana and their culture, with a special emphasis on Cajun music. The first half of the book is basically the history, and the remainder of the book contains sections on these topics: Musicians Dead or Retired; Musicians Playing Today; Appendix (including a lot of information on people and organizations that have contributed to the preservation of Cajun culture); Discography of Cajun Music. (In his Preface, the author explains that he had "started writing this book for children, so that the young children of southwest Louisiana would know the history of their ancestors, but when I got going I found I couldn't stop." (He was a classroom teacher and also a photographer.) This explains this amusing note to the end of the discography: "Quite a number of albums were left off from this list because their titles have words in them that may not be appropriate to classrooms.") .
