Pleito de Casados Que siempre estan enojados

  • Mexico: Imp. de Antonio Vanegas Arroyo, 1912
By Jose Guadalupe Posada [attrib.]
Mexico: Imp. de Antonio Vanegas Arroyo, 1912. Good. Mexico: Imp. de Antonio Vanegas Arroyo, 1912. First Edition. Pictorial broadsheet (30x21cm); recto printed within decorative border, verso within thick black mourning rule. Stock quite damp stained, large losses to top and bottom left-hand corners only just touching border without affecting text or illustration. A Good example overall.

Lengthy poem in the form of a conversation in verse between an angry husband and wife (the title translates approximately as "Dispute between husbands and wives who are always angry"). The accompanying illustration shows the young husband being physically pulled off of his disheveled wife by a group of lookers-on whose hand gestures and facial expressions say everything.

Attributed to Jose Guadalupe Posada or possibly his less sophisticated contemporary Manuel Manilla, both of whom contributed hundreds of cuts for the penny newspapers and poetry broadsheets printed by Antonio Vanegas Arroyo.

No physical copies separately catalogued in OCLC as of May, 2025.
