Two copies of the Cambridge Editions by Houghton Mifflin, one being The Complete Poetical Works of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and The Complete Poetic and Dramatic Works of Robert Browning, each with an engraved vigrnette on the title page.~~The two volumes are from the personal library of Rose D. Bowser, with her address in Richmond 513 N. Adams St. The Longfellow book is dated in her had, and the Browning she dated April, 1921.~~Rosa Bowser is listed in the Encylopedia of Virginia. She was an African American teacher in the Richmond schools and helped create the first progressional African American teacher’s association. She was an instrumental figure in a number of African American reform organizations including industrial schools for black children as well as organizations opposed to lynching. Very Good binding.
