New York/London: Harper & Brothers. Good. 1929. 1st Edition (H-D). Hardcover. (no dust jacket) [worn copy, with considerable soiling to covers and edges of text block; spine slightly turned but binding intact, although the front hinge is a little weak]. The second novel by this author (and future screenwriter), which he described in a contemporary newspaper article as "a portrait of the more poignant and dramatic aspects of middle-class life in America," centered around a young married couple in suburban New York. In yet another, widely-syndicated article, he expounded at some length on one of the central questions addressed in his plot: "What should a wife do, when she discovers her husband making love to her best friend?" All of this author's early works (he wrote three novels between 1927 and 1931) are quite scarce; OCLC records only six copies of this title. .
