Banging Your Head Against a Brick Wall; Existencilism; Cut It Out

By [ART] [COUNTERCULTURE] BANKSY
London: Banksy/Weapons of Mass Distraction, 2001-2004. Mixed Impressions. Three volumes. 12mo. 14.5cm. Publisher's black stiff card covers. Unpaginated. Clean and strong; slight scratching to the laminate of "Cut It Out", price stickers to the rear panels of two vols; internally clean and fresh; A bright, strong, near fine set.

A mixed set with "Banging Your Head Against a Brick Wall", and "Existencilism" being later impressions (both lacking the quotes to the rear panel, "Banging Your Head..." lacks the imprint and email address from the verso of the front cover, "Existencilism" has the revised copyright message to the inside rear cover, all three reference Banksy in the imprint rather than any alternative distributors). "Cut It Out" is a first impression, with the quote to the rear panel. The first printings were quietly produced by Banksy and Weapons of Mass Distraction, with subsequent printings running into the thousands, and sets of all three being given away in record stores with purchases. Nevertheless highly collectable, and harking back to an era of joyfully enthusiastic counter-culture and public disobedience in the service of art.
