By Beck, Ken, and Jim Clark; recipes edited by Julia M. Pitkin
Nashville TN: Rutledge Hill Press. Near Fine. (c.1991). First Edition. Softcover. (plastic-comb binding) [nice clean copy, with just one tiny tear at the upper left corner of the front cover]. (B&W photographs) INSCRIBED on the title page, thus: "For Don Knotts -- / Thank you for adding special / spice to Mayberry!! We appreciate it! / Chow!" and SIGNED by both authors. "From good old-fashioned, down-home cooking to some of Mayberry's more unusual meals, you'll discover favorite Mayberry-style dishes for all occasions -- inspired by Aunt Bee's unsurpassed talents in the kitchen and her special love for her family and friends." (One wonders if it was necessary to wait to publish this book until after the death (two years earlier) of actress Frances Bavier, "Aunt Bee" on "The Andy Griffith Show" for its entire eight-year run, given that she was by most accounts not happy about what came to be her total identification with the role, after a long career on Broadway and in film and TV. As far as Don Knotts was concerned, this book may have been presented to him, but judging from its near-pristine condition I doubt it was ever anywhere near his kitchen.) Signed by All Authors .
